Dear All,

Here's my network topology : My Network -> IPCop -> ADSL Modem-> Internet
The problem is my ADSL Modem has too many functions that I don't need.
And the other, it's also a firewall/router device but I don't want to
use it because I think IPCop can does much better.
I can config the ADSL Modem to act only like a modem ADSL to adjust some
parameter such as PPP type (PPPoE LLC), VPI and VCI and so IPCop can
does the PPPoE Passthrough.
Now can somebody help me to config IPCop to dial PPPoE through my ADSL
modem.
My IPCop Version is 1.4.15
Thanks in advanced!

Hi Tung

Once you setup the modem to act as a bridge and not to dial out etc, do the
following:

1) After booting ipcop run setup (or during install if not already done)
set the Red interface to PPPoE
2) Connect to the ipcop webgui, https://<machine>:445 and choose the Dialer
settings.
3) Set it to pppoe plugin, enter login name, password etc and you are done.
4) On the home page click connect and you should be able to connect.
5) For automating dial in, look at all the options on the dialer page

Hi Tung,

A few more pointers:

1) Since my modem is connected via Ethernet, the interface I selected is
PPPoE
2) Idle timeout is disabled (set to 0)
3) Select connect on IPCop restart
4) Reconnection - I have set it to persistent as I want the connection to
be always on. Retries is set to 0 (for infinite retries) and Holdoff time
is 30 seconds.
5) Under Additional settings, For me "PPPoE plugin" worked (PPPoE didnt)
6) Authentication worked under Pap or Chap for me (based on your ISP you
may need to experiment)
7) DNS settings, I selected manual and used the OpenDNS addresses.
8) Save, go to the homepage and press Connect, It should work!

Cheers

Dear Srini,
Thank you very much, I'll give it a try tomorrow. I've looked at this
page three times, and because I see so many options here, so I was not
sure about configuring it.
Thank you again, I'll inform you when I finish it.
Rgds,
